NameGenie policies
Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 26 August 2026
NameGenie.ai is operated by HJX Group Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17409472, with its registered office at 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. HJX Group Ltd is the data controller for personal data processed through this website.
This policy explains how NameGenie.ai processes information when you use the website and its name-generation tools. You do not need an account to use NameGenie.
1. Name generation and evidence checks
When you request names, your business description and generation choices are sent to a Netlify function. Netlify sends that content server-to-server to our configured Microsoft Azure AI resource, where the deployed DeepSeek model processes it and returns suggestions.
Generation content is used to answer your request and is not durably stored in a NameGenie product database. Netlify and Microsoft may nevertheless process security, diagnostic, and operational logs. Operational logs and their retention are controlled by each provider under its applicable terms and configuration.
When NameGenie checks evidence for a generated candidate or a name you enter directly, the complete domain and business or brand name are sent to Netlify functions. The domain function asks NameSilo for registration evidence first and uses Google Public DNS only for domains where NameSilo does not return a verdict. The company-name function sends the name to Companies House for an initial exact-match search. These checks do not reserve a domain, approve a company name or clear a trade mark.
Hosting and processing providers necessarily receive technical request data such as your IP address, user agent, timestamps, and request metadata so they can deliver, secure, and diagnose the service.
3. Statistics, analytics and affiliate tracking
Unless you object in Cookie settings, our own first-party endpoint counts page views and a closed list of funnel actions. It accepts only the page path without query strings, a broad referrer category and the event name. The function uses the request user agent transiently to discard obvious automation and derive a broad device class, but neither the user agent nor IP address is written to the statistics store. It stores no visitor or session ID, business description, generated name, domain, form content or contact detail, so separate events cannot be joined into an individual journey. We use these restricted counts solely to improve NameGenie under the statistical-purpose exception. You can switch them off at any time, free of charge.
Optional analytics and affiliate technologies load only after you accept them. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity load only after analytics consent. Impact loads only after marketing consent. The name generator works if you decline them.
- • Google Analytics: measures page visits using the page pathname and title, without URL query strings, plus approved categorical funnel events. Business descriptions, generated names, entered business or brand names, domain stems and complete domains are not sent to Google Analytics in those event payloads. When you activate a registrar or startup package link, the selected domain may still form part of the destination sent to the relevant external partner.
- • Microsoft Clarity: provides consented session recordings and heatmaps, including interaction, device and session data. Business descriptions, direct checker inputs, and returned names, domains and reasoning are masked from recordings, and advertising storage remains denied.
- • Impact: uses identifiers and affiliate cookies to attribute consented referrals to our company-registration partner, 1st Formations.
You can use Cookie settings on any page to control aggregate statistics, enhanced analytics and affiliate attribution separately. “Reject optional tracking” refuses both optional categories in one step while leaving cookieless aggregate statistics on, and is presented with the same prominence as “Allow enhanced analytics”. “Allow enhanced analytics” enables Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity but leaves Impact affiliate tracking off; Impact can be enabled only in Manage settings. Without that separate marketing consent, company-registration actions and emailed launch plans use a direct 1st Formations URL instead of an Impact tracking redirect. To stop future first-party statistics as well, open Manage settings, untick Aggregate site statistics and save. Because aggregate counts have no visitor identifier, a count collected before you object cannot be linked back to you or removed individually. Withdrawing optional-provider consent clears known provider cookies and reloads the page when necessary to remove an executed tracking runtime. Data already processed remains subject to each provider's retention terms. You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings.
4. How we use data
We use generation and optional measurement data to:
- • Improve the usability and performance of the website
- • Understand consented usage trends and improve the generation journey
- • Ensure site stability and security
Impact attribution helps us understand when a company-registration referral results from NameGenie.
5. Protection of business ideas
Business descriptions may be sensitive. We limit their handling through the following product practices:
- • No NameGenie product database: We do not durably save generation content in a NameGenie product database.
- • Secure transmission: The site and generation service use HTTPS for data in transit.
- • Server-to-server AI request: The Azure credential remains in the Netlify function and is not sent to your browser.
- • Local history: Search history is kept in browser storage on your device.
- • Sharing control: You decide whether a shared results URL includes your business description.
6. Third-party services
We may use the following third-party services:
- • Google Analytics, for consented page and categorical funnel statistics
- • Microsoft Clarity, for consented user-journey analytics, session recordings, and heatmaps
- • Impact, for consented affiliate attribution and impression tracking
- • Netlify: for hosting, delivery, and the server-side generation function
- • Microsoft Azure AI and DeepSeek: the configured Microsoft Azure AI resource and deployed DeepSeek model, for generation processing
- • NameSilo: for a domain evidence check, the complete generated or entered domain is sent server-to-server through Netlify to NameSilo for current registration evidence. Separately, your browser sends the selected TLD suffix list to NameGenie's Netlify pricing function; Netlify requests the general price list from NameSilo without a selected suffix or domain, filters it locally and returns matching prices. If you activate a registrar action, your browser then opens NameSilo with the selected domain in the destination.
- • Google Public DNS: the complete domain is sent server-to-server through Netlify only when NameSilo does not return a verdict and NameGenie needs a conservative DNS signal. A lack of DNS records does not confirm availability.
- • Companies House: a generated or directly entered business or brand name is sent server-to-server through Netlify for an initial exact-match search. Companies House applies wider naming rules and makes the registration decision.
Google Public DNS, Companies House, and NameSilo receive technical request data needed to provide these checks and handle it under their own terms and privacy policies. When you choose to visit the registrar, NameSilo and affiliate services also receive technical request and referral data.
These providers receive the data needed for their functions and process it under their own terms and privacy policies. Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Impact load only after the matching optional consent.
7. Your rights
Under applicable privacy laws such as the UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- • Ask whether personal data relating to you is being processed and request access where applicable
- • Request correction, deletion, restriction, or portability where applicable
- • Withdraw consent for optional cookies or tracking at any time through the Cookie settings button or your browser settings
- • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk
8. Data retention
A Companies House search result may be held in a transient, instance-local cache for up to about 24 hours while a Netlify function instance remains warm. This is not a durable NameGenie product database. NameGenie application logging records operational event types, bounded counts and error categories, not the entered name or domain. Netlify and downstream providers still receive the technical request data needed to deliver and secure the checks and may retain it under their own terms and configured services.
NameGenie does not create user accounts or durably retain generation content in a product database. Browser history remains until you clear it. Individual statistical events are normally aggregated and deleted after about two hours and are automatically discarded after 24 hours if they cannot be aggregated. Hourly totals are kept for 35 days and London-calendar daily totals for 400 days. Hosting, AI, DNS, company-register, pricing, analytics, journey-analysis, affiliate, and registrar providers may process and retain operational or consented data under their terms and configured services.
9. Children's privacy
NameGenie.ai is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes in functionality or legal requirements. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" above.
